Francis E Lee
Frances E. Lee was one of a group of gifted lady designers that joined Doultons in the 1870’s with such other eminent names as Edith Lupton, Eliza Simmance and the Barlow sisters, Hannah, Lucy and Florence.
Her speciality was very precise incised and carved work, producing both the leading types of Lambeth output, Stoneware and Siliconware. The range of colours available to the designers/artists was limited, but by use of strong colours, Frances Lee produced items of top quality and strong impact.
Like many of her contemporaries, she worked at Doultons for many years, from 1876-1894.
